    SUMMARY

    Responsible for administering and completing finance projects related to tax. 

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Complete review of active product list to identify those with incorrect sales tax codes and recommend correct code, and assist in new product review policy to ensure proper sales tax set up. 
    • Completes balance sheet reconciliations for review by finance department staff. 
    • Match book assets to assets on the floor and record maintenance asset tag. 
    • Help set up and implement a retention policy for unused project materials, along with marking and structuring building to facilitate plan. 
    • Review of patronage payout percentages under the new tax bill rate structure and overlay with cooperative principles. 
    • Create sales tax documentation for use by internal departments as it relates to various company purchases. 
    • Assist with general data clean up. 
    • Other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Exposure to accounting policies and procedures
    • Experience using Microsoft software, proficiency at intermediate to advanced Excel e.g. pivot tables, formulas and sorting/filtering features.
    • Self-starter with strong sense of urgency.
    • Ability to analyze processes and implement continuous improvement ideas through informal leadership.
    • Ability to lead cross-functional projects.
    • Ability to multi-task, remain organized and prioritize work while meeting deadlines.
    • Attentive to detail and accuracy. Ability to problem solve and apply judgment.
    • Ability to work independently, with limited day-to-day direction.
    • Team player, willing to periodically perform additional functions and/or work longer hours during certain times during the year.
    • Possess an understanding of fundamental accounting controls

     

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    Purusing a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field. 

     

     

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret such items as general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or simple governmental regulations.
