    Responsible for general supervision of all phases of plant operations including: production, quality control, sanitation, maintenance, receiving and shipping. Responsibilities also include recruiting, hiring and training personnel and facility/physical plant up-keep and capital improvements. Responsible for annual budget planning and execution and will work closely with the production team to increase productivity and profitability within the manufacturing operation via implementation of LEAN and Six Sigma.



    • Develops long-term departmental goals and objectives to support the company’s overall goals and objectives.
    • Provides leadership for the successful day-to-day operation of the facility.
    • Works closely with quality personnel to review product consistency while monitoring scrap rates to determine trends and areas of improvement.
    • Review established production schedules for all manufacturing departments to ensure established inventory levels are met while operating at the highest efficiency possible.
    • Coordinate the hiring and training of all manufacturing personnel.
    • Monitor operations expenses and leverage LEAN and Six Sigma to reduce costs while maintaining product quality.
    • Analyze workforce requirements.
    • Conduct performance appraisals and provide coaching and guidance to all operations employees.
    • Encourage and promote operating in a continuous improvement environment.
    • Remove production constraints; allocate human and equipment resources and direct production employees to attain all established goals.
    • Remove waste and constraints from the production process to improve efficiencies and increase productivity.
    • Collaborate with research and development and engineering to support new products.
    • Develops and manages operating budgets for areas of responsibility.
    • Manages the movement of physical inventory to ensure accuracy.
    • Oversees activities of distribution to ensure accurate and timely packaging and shipment of finished products.
    • Enforces and is responsible for compliance with safety rules and regulations, and addresses actual and potential safety hazards.
    • Ensures good housekeeping of production, warehouse, office, and other areas of facility to facilitate safety, efficiency, and employee morale.
    • Develops and maintains a working climate conducive to a high level of employee morale and motivation.
    • Strives to reduce waste, recycle products whenever possible, and re-use resources when practical.
    • Works safely at all times, follows safety rules and policies and participates in scheduled training.
    • Reports injuries and near misses promptly and in required detailed format; proposes corrective action.
    • Has a critical role in assuring food safety, quality and continuous improvement.
    • Lead the development and implementation of food safety fundamentals and the food safety plan.
    • Oversee the development, implementation, review and maintenance of the SQF system. Take appropriate actions and communicate to all relevant personnel all information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF system.
    • Other duties may be assigned.


    • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Operations departments as appropriate by plant location.
    • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
    • Provides leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives.
    • Takes responsibility for safety within department and actively assesses hazards in their department and finds solutions to those hazards.
    • Reinforces a safety culture: leads by example, reminds employees to work safely, praises good behavior and safe practices, encourages suggestions, communicates consequences for unsafe acts, holds employees accountable, disciplines employees when warranted.

    Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and 5 years production management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in a key leadership/management role at a manufacturing facility required. 



    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret such items as highly detailed professional, scientific, and technical journals, and legal documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints from both inside and outside the company. Ability to write speeches, articles or memos using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on controversial or complex topics to such groups as top management, boards of directors, or the general public.



    Ability to comprehend the most complex financial principles. Ability to use a computer to create highly customized spreadsheets and charts, run reports, and interpret data. Ability to analyze balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and the most detailed types of financial documents, and apply that information to make long-term, strategic decisions.



    • Strong understanding of budgeting/expense management with a basic understanding of financial and accounting practices. 
    • Ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Strong analytical and decision making skills. 
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel programs; familiarity with other business software and MRP systems.
    • Excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to balance production and maintenance needs.
