    SUMMARY

     

    Achieves category and overall sales goals by effectively managing and working directly with brokers, distributors, and key retail accounts.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Meets profitable sales volumes both regionally and nationally based on corporate business plan.
    • Develops regional and account specific business plans to include sales promotions, training. expenses, market development funds and income.
    • Develops, approves and implements programs to meet budget goals.
    • Travels and meets frequently with brokers/retailers/distributors in assigned region. Overnight stay often required.
    • Attends trade shows, regionally and nationally.
    • Ability to manage multiple brands, including Private Label.
    • Develops and delivers sales presentations and business reviews to key accounts.
    • Trains and works directly with brokers to maximize sales. Directs broker activities in assigned terrority.
    • Establishes broker objectives and evaluates broker performance.
    • Prepares various sales activity reports, including new distribution, current distribution, scheduled appointments, promotions, advertising, spending, action plans, travel calendar, etc.
    • Proficient at deciphering SPINS data and various other data sources derived by retailers and wholesalers.
    • Develops and maintains appropiate shelf placement, price point, and merchandising activity of key products at retail and distributor level.
    • Meets with key accounts to maintain relationships, negotiate and close deals.
    • Analyzes and manages expenditures within established budgets.
    • Monitors and evaluates activities and products of competition.
    • Strives to reduce waste, recycle products whenever possible, and re-use resources when practical.
    • Works safely at all times, follows safety rules and policies and participates in scheduled training.
    • Reports injuries and near misses promptly and in required detailed format; propses corrective action.
    • Other duties may be assigned.

    This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

     

    Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

     

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

     

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret such items as highly detailed professional, scientific, and technical journals, and legal documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints from both inside and outside the company. Ability to write speeches, articles, or memos using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on controversial or complex topics to such groups as top management, boards of directors, or the general public.

     

    QUANTITATIVE SKILLS

     

    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to comprehend basic production, financial or scientific principals. Ability to use a computer to create spreadsheets, charts and reports and analyze and apply information to make practical, day-to-day business decisions.

     

    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • Excellent organizational and presentation skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Ability to work within team concept.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel programs; familiarity with other business software.
