    Oversees and develops the functions of Quality Control to meet quality and regulatory objectives and supports the company’s strategic objectives across all businesses.



    • Oversees the quality control function including all staff, laboratory operations and raw material and in-process compliance standards.
    • Maintains and develops all analytical scientific methodologies.
    • Responsible for instrumentation and laboratory equipment and processes including continuous improvements within the laboratory.
    • Develops new methods, standards, process and instrument implementation as appropriate.
    • Responsible for the maintenance and creation all raw material and in-process and finished product specifications.
    • Assures compliance with quality standards and cGMPs for all raw materials and in-process products.
    • Maintains ISO certification.
    • Implements and oversees Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) as necessary to ensure quality and regulatory compliance.
    • Oversees compliance with FDA, State and Organic regulatory requirements as well as current and newly established 3rd party certifications related to products.
    • Advises and provides support to production, purchasing, customer service, marketing, sales and other departments as needed.
    • Serves as technical support for key selling opportunities.
    • Interfaces in Industry to keep Frontier in the leadership positions in herb, spices and natural product trade groups and industry events.
    • Strives to reduce waste, recycle products whenever possible, and re-use resources when practical.
    • Works safely at all times, follows safety rules and policies and participates in scheduled training.
    • Reports injuries and near misses promptly and in required detailed format; proposes corrective action.
    • Has a critical role in assuring food safety, quality and continuous improvement.
    • Other duties may be assigned.



    Supervises Quality Control personnel, which can include managers who directly supervise others. Interview, hire, train employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    Takes responsibility for safety within department and actively assesses hazards in their department and finds solutions to those hazards.

    Reinforces a safety culture: leads by example, reminds employees to work safely, praises good behavior and safe practices, encourages suggestions, communicates consequences for unsafe acts, holds employees accountable, disciplines employees when warranted.

    Ph.D. in biological, biochemical or food science or related field and 10 to 15 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of two years of supervisory experience.



    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret such items as highly detailed professional, scientific, and technical journals, and legal documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints from both inside and outside the company. Ability to write speeches, articles, or memos using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on controversial or complex topics to such groups as top management, boards of directors, or the general public.



    Ability to comprehend and apply advanced concepts such as logarithms or quadric equations, plus principles of calculus or advanced statistical theory. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

    • Good organizational skills, and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work within team concept.
    • Familiarity with Word, Excel and database software.
