    SUMMARY

    The Direct Business Assistant Merchandiser plans and executes a wide range of fun and exciting merchandising strategies and tasks. You will be responsible for monitoring and executing tactics for the distributed brand assortment to drive top-line sales and bottom-line profitability. You’ll collaborate up, down, sideways and out to achieve business goals. You’ll stay abreast of industry trends and conceptualize how to bring these trends and brands to market.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assists with sourcing new brands and cultivating relationships, including contract negotiation and new vendor paperwork.
    • Responsible for curating the product catalog of OPPs.
    • Assists in developing marketing and merchandising strategies for distributed brands and categories.
    • Utilizes a wide range of business data to optimize the catalog assortment and profitability; proficient in Excel.
    • Collaborates with Purchasing to develop margin plans and forecasts.
    • Has an innate, strong sense of product and a deep understanding of a wide range of customer demographics.
    • Manage all aspects of ad revenue including advertising plans and fees, messaging and ad procurement.
    • Leads production of monthly and annual sale catalogs including workflow, planning and proofing.
    • Establishes and maintains effective communication with suppliers and internal customers, including working with other departments to resolve inventory and receiving issues.
    • Maintains department and supplier files.
    • Strives to reduce waste, recycle products whenever possible, and re-use resources when practical.
    • Works safely at all times, follows safety rules and policies and participates in scheduled training.
    • Reports injuries and near misses promptly and in required detailed format; proposes corrective action.
    • Other duties may be assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in business administration, marketing or related field from four-year college or university and 3-5 years of customer service, marketing or merchandising experience.

     

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret such items as general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or simple governmental regulations.
    • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, or procedure manuals.
    • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions where a certain degree of tact and discretion is needed.

     

    QUANTITATIVE SKILLS

    • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
    • Ability to comprehend basic production, financial or scientific principles.
    • Ability to use a computer to create spreadsheets and charts, run reports, and analyze and apply that information to make practical, day-to-day business decisions.

     

    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work within team concept.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel programs; familiarity with other business software.
