    Overall Description


    Frontier’s Safe Processing in Cooperative Enterprise (SPICE) project funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) intends to support the training of farmers, processing facility staff, and partner SOFA’s leadership and management, as well as provide the processing equipment, which will facilitate export of value-added, food safe spices from Sri Lanka which cannot be grown in the US.  The project manager based in Sri Lanka will serve as an integral in-country representative working with a team of individuals both in country and overseas.


    Objectives & Scope


    Serve as an integral in-country representative for the implementation of Frontier’s international grant award working with a team of individuals both in country and overseas from Frontier’s home office and team of remote consultants. Be an indispensable resource for the program management effort, in compliance with all rules and regulations as set forth in the grant terms and according to local law.  


    Roles and responsibilities

    • Managing stakeholders and holding them accountable against specific commitments
    • Oversight and implementation of local logistics for activities including training workshops, local and international travel
    • Negotiating and managing contracts with local goods and service providers, including researchers and trainers
    • Data collection for monitoring progress against project Key Performance Indicators
    • Serving as the local face of the project with stakeholders
    • Observe, Collect and Document learnings from project implementation in collaboration with program team


    Skills and abilities

    • Project management
    • Basic budget management and reporting abilities 
    • Public speaking and ability to represent project at meetings with government, industry, media, etc
    • Excellent English writing skills
    • Comfort working in local language and English
    • Excellent presentation and group facilitation skills
    • PC Skills: fluent in Microsoft Office applications, Skype and/or other virtual meeting platforms
    • Demonstrated ability to mitigate risks proactively and resolve issues; and escalate when appropriate
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate to, negotiate with, and influence individuals

    Desired experience

    • Administration and coordination of development sector projects
    • Agribusiness and or food processing
    • SME or NGO start-up and set-up experience
    • Work with Americans or Europeans, preferably with 2-3 overseas education or work experience 
    • Experience being a part of and/or leading teams consisting of 3-7 people
    • Interest in being part of the cooperative business system in the global economy
    • Demonstrated use of strategic, systems and critical thinking skills
    • Demonstrated organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills; Ability to determine root-causes of performance within systems and processes
    • Photography experience and/or videography

    Other requirements
